Two Types of Microdermabrasion

Two Types of Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is one of the best skin treatments you can use to provide your skin with various benefits. It is popular because it uses impacts both the outer and the inner layer of your skin to provide you with benefits.

However, there are two different types of Microdermabrasion and hence microdermabrasion machines you can choose one from. Here are both these types.

  • Crystal Microdermabrasion
  • Diamond Microdermabrasion

The benefits of both the processes is almost the same, but the processes are somewhat different.

Crystal Microdermabrasion

Crystal Microdermabrasion came to America from Europe. It is also known as microcrystal dermabrasion. It is the most popular type of Microdermabrasion.

This treatment starts when the machine sends super fine crystals through a tube to your skin after passing from the wand. Then the wand uses vacuum to suck back the crystals and exfoliate skin particles. Machine gathers used crystals throughout the treatment, which are then discarded.

In this process Aluminum Oxide crystals are used since their strength is near diamonds. However, there are other types of crystals you can choose from as well.

Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion

While it is a relatively newer procedure, it has gained popularity because it doesn’t use crystals.

In this process, a wand with crushed diamonds particles is used on your skin. Diamond particles remove the outer layer of your skin, and the particles are then sucked back by vacuum.

This process is somewhat cleaner as compared to crystal Microdermabrasion, and that’s because diamond is really hard, and leaves no broken particles on the skin, also, the chances of particles getting into your eyes are pretty low. However, care is needed from your end as well, if you’re doing the procedure yourself.

Diamond Microdermabrasion is also preferred by many people because it doesn’t cause breathing problems like aluminum oxide crystals in sensitive people.

While crystals exposure is a concern for many people, you do t have to worry about your crystal exposure if you have an experienced technician treating you.
